Tennessee
Trash Song Lyrics
Folks keep
asking me about the song lyrics for the old Tennessee Trash
public service announcement that was aired back in 1976. I
have posted them below:
Tennessee Trash
sung by Ed Bruce
He’s a little bit of you, he’s a little bit of
me
He’s the trash along the roadside in Tennessee
He’s the garbage that we pass, he’s the dream we left
behind
Lord there ain’t no lower class than Tennessee Trash
A throw away bottle or a pop top can, may not seem much to a
traveling man
But a litter bit of litter goes a long long way, going and a
growing getting bigger every day...
Tennessee trash messing up the highways, Tennessee trash
junking up the by ways
Lord there ain’t no lower class than Tennessee
trash
Lord there ain't no lower claaaaasss than
Tennessee trash
(announcer speaks)"We have met the enemy, and
he is us."
The song accompanied a video of a scraggly looking guy in a
wife-beater t-shirt, driving a convertible car down a
Tennessee highway, throwing trash from the car. He ends up in
front of a lake with a big pile of trash surrounding him and
his rear bumper falling off.
